Product Development and Launch – Minimal Baggage

While at university during a practical marketing subject, we were required as a team to develop, promote and market a product at a university run market weekend. We created Minimal Baggage, a brand focused on bringing stylish and environmentally conscious tote bags to the QUT market.

For the purpose of the assignment my role was Pricing Manager, focusing on market analysis to narrow down our target demographic and develop an effective pricing strategy. However, I was also involved in the development of our brand and promotions by assisting with elements of design.

Furthermore I also learned what it takes to develop a strong brand identity through promotions, product and store design. Overall the product and pricing strategy we developed was a success with our stall being extremely popular and selling out of product moments before the close of the final market day with minimal discounting required. We finished with one of the highest profit ratios in the market.
