Space Traitors Promotions

As part of the release of Space Traitors I was responsible for heading up most of the game’s PR and Marketing, which my focus was to gain media attention with the game as this was considered to be a desirable outcome and key identifier of success for the course.

To do so I developed the team and game’s press kits and after identifying the outlets our product would be most suited to, I compiled the necessary information and contacted outlets and their writers directly.

As a result with no marketing budget Space Traitors was featured on Pocket Gamer, Gaming Skillz, Guru Gamer and Game On News along with a number of other outlets that weren’t part of our initial contact list.

Further assisting the success of our marketing efforts we also created a live action trailer to showcase Space Traitors effectively as a party game and capture the player experience in a creative and interesting way. During this process I collaborated with one of our Artists in the production and shooting of the trailer and then finally I was responsible for editing and finalizing the project.

The market aspect of this project is one of the things I am most proud of during the development of “Space Traitors” as I had the opportunity to use a set of skills unique to myself on the team and produce exceptional results that lead to improved reach of our game.

The experience also taught me what was important for an effective marketing strategy on a budget and the common pitfalls of the experience and I feel as though it helped me to grow as an indie marketer and provide me with experience and knowledge to apply to future projects.
