For one of my final semester projects I decided to try and solo develop a small mobile game for release on the Google Play Store to round out my skills and get some experience with publishing for mobile.
The game I developed was a small dungeon diver game where the player had to eliminate skeletons to progress to the next level. The player needed a sword to do so but each sword in the dungeon would break after a few uses so the player would need to find a new one to defeat the skeletons.

I think it was a good test of my abilities as a solo developer as it allowed me to plan out development and use the supplementary skills I have gained in programming and Unity Development to see this project through.
In regard to programming I wrote over 1000 lines of code for this project which is more than I am normally used to as a designer, however I feel more confident in my abilities as a game play programmer because of this.
Additionally I became well accustomed to the publishing process of the Google Play Store which I think has been helpful to learn on a smaller process such as this. Now I have a Google Play Console developer account and I could easily publish to the Google Play Store again or assist others to do the same.

The game is currently published and playable on the Google Play Store:

A Standalone version of the game can be accessed on Game Jolt:

I would like to expand upon and improve this project for a few months in 2020 so I can further gain experience with the Google Play Store and better understand what is required to support and update a game on a regular basis. Both in terms of bug fixing and patches as well as supplying new content for players to enjoy, ideally to retain them as users of the game.
In addition to adding content I would also like to experiment with methods of promoting the game. As this is something I didn’t do for the project as the core focus was to test my skills as a solo developer and publish my first mobile game.
